slow retreats

For
anyone who wants to take some time out and discover
for themselves how to live more Slowly, we'll be
offering Slow Retreats, periods of three or four
days during which we'll explore our own
relationships with time, and practice the art of
slowing down. Good (Slow!) food and wine,
simple meditation practices, Slow Walks and play will form the core
of these retreats, along with plenty of time for
reflection and space simply to be in
Grillou's bucolic surroundings.
This is a retreat to
lift the spirit and (re)discover life's slow and
simple pleasures, not one for existential angst or
self-flagellation ... but beware, it might just change
your life!
slow walking
In spring and autumn we’ll be
offering Slow Walking breaks (otherwise known as
Walking for Wimps). We consider ourselves to be
walking wimps, at least in Ariège terms: we’re not
interested in how fast we can cover a path, how much
height we can gain or how many kilometres we can
walk; nor are we up for scary scrambles, precarious
footholds or anything that needs crampons. Slow
Walking is about taking time to be in our
surroundings with all our senses; to stand and stare
just as often as we want to; and to enjoy the
simplicity of walking without the need for
challenging goals. Here's a taste: maps plus nature
and walking guides, including some of our own route
descriptions (which we term 'Snail Trails')
provided; transport to and from the beginning and
end of walking routes; rucksacks, poles, binoculars
etc provided so you can still travel light, picnic
lunches delivered and set up mid-walk; nights away
from ‘home’ in a pre-erected tent …

bodywork
I (Kalba) am a professional practitioner of holistic
massage and bodywork with over twenty years
experience of practice and teaching. I have a
practice here in
Ariège where I offer a form of bodywork I term
still.point: a 'slow' healing art which integrates
elements of both eastern and western massage
alongside
holds, stretching, energy and
breath work, and elements from various bodywork
approaches such as craniosacral therapy, Lomi Lomi
(Hawaiian bodywork), holistic pulsing and more.
Sessions are
available at Grillou, either inside in a therapy
room or - weather permitting, obviously! - outside
in our completely private and secluded grounds.
There's more information here, at
