MAISON GRILLOU, CHAMBRES D'HOTES AND HOLIDAY ACCOMMODATION WITH A DIFFERENCE IN THE FRENCH PYRENEES

                            la p'tite maison

La P’tite Maison is next door to L’Atelier d’Artiste and accommodates one couple. We've restored the whole area, a former farm workers’ house, using natural materials and furnished it in a contemporary French country style, with a mixture of reclaimed and new furniture. It now forms a completely self contained suite of around 65 square metres on three levels, with access from the dining room-library in the main house.

La P'tite Maison is centrally heated and available all year. Slow Food and Wine Breaks are available from November to March.

                            downstairs

Downstairs is a private hall area leading into a sitting room with two armchairs and a large Chesterfield sofa, a mini-TV with French plus some English, Spanish, German and Dutch channels, and a combined hi-fi/DVD player/iPod dock with USB and SD slots. There's also a dining table with two chairs, a small silent fridge and some crockery, cutlery and glasses so that you have the means to put yourself together a picnic lunch or supper (we'll take care of the washing up), a kettle, and a tray of tea, coffee and tisanes, naturellement. The salon is painted with natural paint/wash: a warm cream made from earth pigments of sienna and yellow ochre.

The dining room-library next door in the main house has shelves of French and English books, maps, and local information. Outside, there are various garden areas with tables, chairs and sun loungers, plus a (shared) covered dining space. A barbecue is available.

                            upstairs

Upstairs there's a landing leading to a double height bedroom with a leather double (140cm x 190cm) bed and pillow topped mattress. Bedlinen, towels and bathrobes are white Egyptian cotton. A flight of stairs from the bedroom leads to a mezzanine level chill out area with floor cushions, rattan chairs, and CD player. The bedroom is painted with natural paints and washes made using earth pigments of natural sienna and yellow ochre.

The shower room has a tiled 90cm x 90cm shower with glass door, a contemporary wash basin on a tadelakt wall, and oak shelving; there's a separate WC opposite. Shampoos, shower gels and other lotion and potions are provided, and there's a hair dryer.

                            practical stuff

The minimum stay in La P’tite Maison is 2 nights, with arrivals and departures possible on any day of the week. Bookings generally run from 16.00 on arrival day to 11.00 on departure day, but we can often be flexible about this – just ask. La P'tite Maison, like the rest of Grillou, is non-smoking.

Prices start at 71.25 euros per night. Breakfast is included, and dinner is available three evenings a week.

Although completely self contained, La P’tite Maison can be linked with L’Atelier d’Artiste to form superb accommodation (open plan kitchen-dining-sitting room, separate sitting room, two bedrooms each with their own shower room and loo) for two couples booking together.
